5 Stars Beautiful
I bought the Stuhrling Original Ladies Lifestyle ‘Wall Street’ Skeleton Automatic Watch and it’s absolutely beautiful. The window into the inner-workings is a lovely feature, and the details like scrollwork and multi-coloured screws are great. I keep taking it off to watch it work. It’s a little larger than I thought it would be, but I suppose with all the gears and gizmos that should have been expected. Anyway, I think it was a great deal and I’m very happy I bought it.
5 Stars skeleton auto watch
I think this watch is great. My husband own several and I admired his so I had to have one also.
1 Star not as advertised
Unlike the illustration, the face on which the hours are shown is gold coloured, just like the hands and even the works underneath. Therefore the hands are indistinguishable. To read it requires great wrist and arm dexterity to get the angle right. Weird! It’s unlikely I’ll never wear it again until my funeral. Otherwise the production quality seems OK, and it works OK (as far as one can tell). It is REALLY BIG. Being entirely gold-coloured, it looks astonishly vulgar - hey - just like Wall St.! After reading other feedback I am not confident that Stuhrling will be able to replace it with the advertised product and I not want to enter into a dispute with their allegedly rude and grumpy staff, so I have just decided to cut my losses.
5 Stars Must-Have Automatic
I have been looking for an automatic watch which is both beautiful and well-made for quite a while now. I have finally found that watch. I love the gold and black combination. The gold numbers on a black background make the numbers readable, which is hard to find in many watches. The position of the crown makes it very easy to wind the watch while wearing. However, I only have to wind it to set the time. The watch charges as soon as I pick it up, no winding or shaking necessary! These colors also go with anything so I can wear my watch everyday. I purchased this watch two weeks ago; it arrived on time and in the most amazing packaging. I definitely felt like I got my money’s worth.
3 Stars Beautiful, high quality watch, but hard to read.
This “skeleton” watch is very beautiful, has the heft and finish of a very fine watch, and I enjoy looking at the works, both in front and in the back. But the “works” make it difficult to read the time since one must first find the hands, which tend to be camoflaged by the background workings. It would have helped if the hands had been colored and luminous in the dark to help distinguish them from the background.
Unlike the experience of another reviewer, the watch keeps working over night, and I enjoy tilting it back and forth to watch what happens in the back.
Five stars if the hands were easily visible, which is what a “watch” is all about.

4 Stars Beautiful watch but minor problems
I got this watch as a Christmas present. It looks great and I get a lot of complements. The watchband is not great after only two months i had to replace it because the pink was wearing off (I contacted Sturhling and they shipped me out a new one for free). You also have to wind the watch or else it stops eveyone in a while, but if you do that every couple days it works perfect. All in all a great watch I would by it again.
5 Stars Beautiful watch
Purchased this for my wife for Valentine’s Day. She works with chemicals and therefore usually wears cheap throw-away watches but I wanted to get her a nice-looking watch that could also stand up to the rigors of her job.
Happy to report that several months later this watch still looks 100% mint. Very well constructed - it has to be since you can see the inside - and it looks amazing.
If you’re after a strong yet feminine skeleton watch this is the one. Comes with extensive packaging and info too.
2 Stars Nice Fun Watch but the “Leather Strap”????
I was very happy and excited when I received this watch last 3/26/08. I love it that I started wearing them since then. Unfortunately the so called “leather strap” started to peel off. If I can notice the damage done in a couple of days of use, I wander how it would look like in a month. I’m very disappointed. I’m sending it back.
5 Stars Fun Watch
Bought has a special present. She not only loves the watch but loves the interest it attracts. Runs well and keeps excellent time. Highly recommend this watch.
5 Stars beautiful craftsmanship and seriously FUN!
i am completely amazed by the quality of this watch for the price. i love that stuhrling has taken old world manual craftsmanship into a fun, functional and fashionable timepiece that fits my age, lifestyle and budget.
i’m usually wary of “fashion” watches because they rarely hold up to the wear and tear of everyday life…you end up spending money on pieces that only last a few months. in this watch i’ve found the fashion i want with craftsmanship that’s worthy of my hard earned money. it comes beautifully packaged like many of the much more expensive brands i dream of owning someday….and makes me smile in a way those more conservative watches just can’t.

3 Stars Wonderful watch; hard to read; terrible band
Be forewarned that Stuhrling offers an extended warranty to people who post good reviews. Phooey on them for that.
The watch is absolutely lovely though huge for a women’s watch. As I expected when I ordered it, I just love looking at it. I am kind of a geek and also fascinated by the self-winding mechanism… though having read other reviews before ordering, please do not be fooled into thinking that Stuhrling has solved the problem of perpetual motion. “Self-winding” works when you wear the watch, and is propelled by the motion of your arm. If you leave the watch sitting, it can’t “self wind”.
The watch hands are not as high contrast as they look in the photos. The mechanics of the watch in the center are rather dark in most lighting situations, casting shadows, etc., and the hands (and numerals) are a (gorgeous) deep red. I don’t even like red, but I really admire the look. I just have a hard time reading the watch without twisting it into different angles. I think the hands would be more readable if they were black and/or thicker (they are very delicate).
The band on this particular watch is horrible, and stopped me from wearing the watch… the “snakeskin” is a veneer and although I’ve only worn the watch twice, it’s already starting to peel on the edges and bubble up in the middle of the band. I found the veneer cheap from the start — it looks totally plasticky and is not at all in line with the quality of the watch. But suddenly, I realize I can just get a new band.
In the end, I am glad I got a Sturhling skeleton watch, but would perhaps have been happier with a different version, one that had higher contrast on the face and that had a real leather band. (Well okay, technically this one is “real leather”, but there’s that weird veneer bonded to it.)
Oh, and I have a wrist maybe 7.25″. The band is plenty long enough for me, and there’s even another notch to go.
Update: I got a couple of new bands and am much happier. The new bands are even easily changeable (though the old is not), which should be fun with this watch. I got one in a red-brown that echoes the color of the hands and numerals and another in a navy blue, which is a pleasing contrast. Someday, I may get a blond leather, too, because I do like the overall yellow/gold glow that this watch was meant to convey. Be forewarned if you go on this path that 18mm bands are generally for men’s watches and quite long.
4 Stars Looks great, sometimes gains minutes, hands hard to read
I wear my watch everyday because I enjoy it so much. The watch itself is ~3cm in width - just over an inch. It looks great and I have received a lot of compliments and it is a conversation piece. However, it does have it’s drawbacks.
First off, you must wear it constantly - not just when you’re out and about - because it is self winding. Having to reset it is truly a hassle. My particular watch seems to gain a few minutes each day so I am constantly adjusting the time. The hands are also difficult to read. They are a sort of red/brown color which blends in with the mechanism. I think if they were white or some other contrasting color they could be read more easily.
The snakeskin band looks good but is very stiff and thick. I’ve considered getting a different band, but I have a small wrist and I’ve discovered that it’s hard to find a woman’s watchband that is 18mm.
Lastly, Stuhrling offers a warranty extension on the watch if you leave good feedback. Don’t leave your feedback until you’ve worn it awhile. I think this is poor form on Stuhrling’s part.
All in all, I’ve been able to adapt to its quirks - need to constantly wear (or buy a watch winder case), stiff band, and the few extra minutes it gains each day - I really like the look of the watch and so have opted to keep it for now.
5 Stars My wife loves this watch
I purchased this watch for my wife’s birthday. She was looking for a mechanical watch, she was tired of going to the watch store every year to get batteries replaced.
She’s told me that this is the best watch she’s ever had. That’s saying something, since she has quartz watches costing many times more than we paid for this watch.
So far it’s been keeping perfect time and she only had to manually wind it once.
I’m actually thinking about a Stuhrling watch myself. I’ve got a few months to wait for my birthday however.

4 Stars Disciple1333
The watch is wonderful looking, It keeps good time, the only unfortunate set back is the fact that the watch must be wound up everyday. This I find to be a little antiquated. However My Wife loves the watch and wears it everyday. Over all it’s an Excellent watch in My Wife’s opinion.
